As a Third Generation female Benton Farmer who is getting the opportunity to continue my parents work and dream of the EDUCATION of children, for their 25 years + and now my responsibility of continuing on the generations. Benton Farms was created into Benton Family Farm as approved by the IRS as a 501(C)3 organization. What do we do and why do we need your help as a nonprofit?......Simply, I can tell you that SMALL farms are a dying breed and will soon be gone and only classified as agritainment. What do I mean by this? Farms are inviting the public but getting commercialized in the process, bringing in animals that you usually just saw at a zoo, which is good for some but NOT in our scope or mission of what we think is agricultural education! We need SUPPORT to get school children to a real family working farm. For so many children this is not even an option due to high cost of busing and rising costs since 2008. "We get one field trip a year and we choose the Benton Farm Experience." said by a teacher in Kenton Co. Looking forward to our new events to reach out to our new and existing families about agricultural education and farming. We are no longer just a pumpkin farm we our excited about providing the BEST agricultural education all year long to met our mission. We are proud to say our volunteers are reaching out and helping other nonprofits in need. We have a summer farm camp now for 15 years and excited to have such a wonderful week with these kids who attend year after year and now we employee these young teens! We have a mobile ag trailer that goes to your site and provides education, much more than a petting zoo. We visit libraries, festivals, schools, nursing homes, churches and private homes… We also have a monthly fundraiser that our volunteers help put on for another nonprofit to give even more back to the community.
